{My Hubby}

Tagged Again! This time it's about husbands.

Sorry for the long answers!

1. What is his name? Brady Rex Hansen

2. Who eats more?
He eats more, and yet he never gains a pound. Why are boys like that?

3. Who said I love you first?
He did, but I quickly followed.

4. Who is taller? He is, by 5 in.

5. Who is smarter?
He's really smart, and actually remembers almost every single thing he's ever learned! When it comes to school, he has a memory like a steel trap. When it comes to other things, like telling him we have somewhere to be... he always forgets! I guess all the school knowledge is taking up most of his brain space :)

6. Who is more sensitive?
I am, and he'd definitely agree.

7.Who does the laundry?
We both do, but I have to admit, he probably does it more since I'm gone all day. He does a lot of the cleaning for me so that I can relax when I get home from work. He knows I can't relax in a messy house. What a nice husband!

8. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed?
Standing at the foot of the bed, Brady because its right by the wall. I get up earlier so I need to be able to roll out of bed without having to jump over him :)

9. Who pays the bills?
I earn the money and I pay the bills since I have the checks! We actually recently got checks with both our names on them so he does pay them once in a while now. I actually prefer to do it though, just so I know it got done. Remember question #5. He forgets these things sometimes. (and i do have to add that he does have a job, so he makes some of the $. He is definitely not a slacker!)

10. Who cooks more?
Obviously............HIM! At first I was doing so good, cooking 3-4 times a week, but in order for that to work, I have to plan the week ahead because I'm a recipe person. I stopped planning so he started cooking. He is sooo good at being able to throw whatever we have together and make a delicious meal! Can you tell our roles are completely reversed right now?

11. What meals do you cook together?
I guess Sunday meals, and I always try to help him by making rolls, or corn, or chopping veggies. He's just waaaayyy better at making the main dish :)

12. Who is more stubborn?
Him, I'm pretty sure he knows it.

13. Who is the first to admit they're wrong?
Me

14. Who has more siblings?
Me. 6 to 3.

15. Who wears the pants in the relationship?
It's definitely a joint effort.

16. What do you like to do together?
Everything. Go running, eat sushi, go on a walk, trips, clean, read. Sometimes just being in the room together and doing completely different things works, as long as we're together!

17. Who eats more sweets?
ME!!! yum

18. His Guilty pleasures?
Hmm, I wonder what he would say are his guilty pleasures. I would say eating too many chips, drinking to much soda, salt and butter on everything, not shaving his face (although I actually like it when he doesn't), and liking stylish clothing (he did work at the Buckle for 3 yrs.).

19. How did you meet?
I could tell you about 4 different times and places we "met" but the true first time was about 6 months before I moved into Mountainwood Condos. My roommates and I went to look at someones apt. and low and behold Brady was there because it was his girlfriend at the time who was showing us the apt. She basically convinced us that we should move in to this place. Sadly for her, I would move in the ward 6 months later, steal her boyfriend, and marry him. Or something like that :)

20. Who asked who out first?
He asked me out, and I turned him down by saying we were just really good friends. (How mean am I?) He was upset but decided friends was better than nothing, so he tricked me into a date by telling me it was a bunch of people hanging out, and it ended up being a double date. Who knew that would work?! I guess he knew me better than I knew myself!

21. Who kissed who first?
I would say him, but the feeling was definitely mutual.

22. Who proposed?
Brady

23. His best features?
Blue eyes, good lips, cute half smile, ripped calves

24. What is his greatest quality?
There are tons, but I really like how he is self confident without being over confident, as well as being confident with EVERY situation no matter how bleak it looks. He always just knows everything is going to work out in our favor, and that's really nice to have around since i'm a worrier! And of course his sense of humor, how he helps me so much around the house and with work, and he never makes me cry!!!

25. Tag? Um... No thanks. I got the hint last time when only 2 out of the 6 people I tagged responded! I still like being tagged though!

International Tuesdays with the Tots

We kicked off our International Tuesday with Japanese Sushi at Demae!

We had lots of fun using our chopsticks for everything. We used them to grab our straw to take a sip of our drink, place a napkin in our lap, and Brady tried to start a fire with them. Oh and of course eating the sushi with them!

A special thanks to Cat, Amy, and Leandra who made this possible. Due to the traditional drawing out of a hat, Next week is PERU PALACE! We're looking forward to it!

{Good Luck Angie!}

Last night I said goodbye to my dear friend of the past FIVE years. She is the 2nd of my "college" friends to move away (Meg you were first). Although I am very happy for my friends, I can't help but feel a little sad that all the people I consider my close friends are moving away. I know we will keep in touch, but it is always interesting to be at the close of a chapter in my life and realize that things are changing, yet again. I had some people over last night so we could all say our goodbyes and have one last hoorah together with Ang!

Angie and I had an especially fun time getting through our college years together from having missionaries out and going through the ups and downs with that, having random dance parties with ourselves in our apartment, just talking and sounding things off to each other, letting out our frustrations, going through school pressures, making big decisions, and getting married (neither of us to our missionaries)! You're too good to me Ang! Good Luck with everything, I know things will work out great for you! I will miss you :)

Capitol Reef

This weekend Brady and I went camping at Capitol Reef (southern Utah) with Ryan and Steph. Brady and Ryan have so many memories of Capitol Reef from many years of camping there with their family. It was fun for me and Steph to finally get to experience it, and now we can share in the memories too!

The first night, the actual campsite was full, so they told us to go to another area down the road. We were a little bummed at first, but the area we went to was completely empty and beautiful! We ended up loving having one night completely to ourselves. I've never seen so many stars so bright! We could see the milky way, the big and little dipper, satellites, Venus, and shooting stars! It was awesome :)

After a yummy breakfast, we moved over to the other campgrounds. There was a stream down the road with a waterfall. It was really pretty and refreshing!

I won't bore you with ALL the details, but if you're interested you can watch our slide show. We had a fun and relaxing time eating smores, playing cards, hiking to Hickman's Bridge, playing bocce ball, reading, swimming in the waterfall, and hanging out!

I LOVE being an Aunt...

Here's my top 10 reasons why (in no particular order):

1) Zach, 2) Luke, 3) Caleb, 4) Jackson, 5) Josh, 6) Bella, 7) Liam, 8) Griff, 9) Savannah, 10) Colson

Plus, I have two more nieces on the way on my side, and the very first on the way on Brady's side. And my sweetest niece, Elizabeth , who I know is just waiting for us all in heaven! Claire, Addy (i think), and Avery- Your favorite Aunt is waiting for you!!!!

Babysitting

We babysat Colson and Griff for Carrie and Brad on Wednesday night and had a great time dancing and singing with the kids! They are sooo cute and so much fun!

Griff was cracking us up all night! In the video below, Colson was singing nonsense words and Griff was just going crazy on the couch by himself! We attempted to get it on video, but we were a little late. You can see a little bit of Griff's dancing to Colsie song, but he gets tired of it pretty quick! But also notice Colson shout out to "Uncle Brady do" in the song.

Surprise!!!

Yesterday was Stephanie's B-day, and her good friend Angell planned an awesome surprise party for her. It was so fun to have everyone hanging out together, eating hot dogs and burgers, and just enjoying the nice weather!!! We realized that this could possibly be the last of her birthday's that we'll be together. Who really knows I guess. That's the beauty of being young and married. You basically have no idea what life has in store for you. It sure will be fun to find out :)

I got to hold the Williamson's cutest baby girl, Sarah, who had these cute pink polished toes! Stacey said the doctor did it while Sarah was getting her shots! What a cute idea doctor!

We love you Steph! Even though you still haven't started your blog ;)

Join us for a night of culture...

On Monday night we went to the Hale Center Theater to see "Little Women"! It was so fun to be able to just go out and enjoy a nice little classic with some good company. Brady's parents gave us, as well as Ryan (Brady's brother) and wife Steph, a year subscription to the theater as a Christmas Present, so this year we've enjoyed getting to go about once a month! Thanks Mom and Dad Hansen :)

In other cultural news....

....we are going to be starting the long awaited "cultural food extravaganza" next week on Tuesday. It will be Japanese Sushi night everyone! So bust out those chopsticks, and grab some Wasabi, all are invited! We are really going this time. No really, I'm serious. I must add that I was unable to sew those costumes that Cat, Leandra, and (lets just be honest) EVERYONE was so looking forward to due to lack of a sewing machine, and lack of having absolutely any knowledge about sewing. Sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused, but I still highly recommend wearing chop sticks in your hair. See you there!

tic-TAG-toe!!!

We've both been tagged by Carrie!! Here goes:

Okay here are the rules:

  1. You link back to the person who tagged you
  2. Post these rules on your blog
  3. Share six unimportant things about yourself
  4. Tag six random people at the end of your entry
  5. Let the tagged people know by leaving a comment on their blogs
  6. Enjoy the results!
6 unimportant things about Taryn:
  1. I am currently obsessed with drinking enough water. So obsessed that I found a place to calculate exactly how much I need to be drinking each day, to the ounce! (http://nutrition.about.com/library/blwatercalculator.htm)
  2. Sometimes I eat my lunch with small cups instead of utensils.... not because I want to, but because I forget to bring a fork to work and its either my hands or the sampling cups.
  3. My right eye is half green and half brown.
  4. I love vintage clothing and recently decided that when I am a millionaire I will collect and own vintage clothing, open a store with clothes from all eras, and rent them out to people for parties, halloween, or just for fun!
  5. I haven't ridden a bike in more than a decade, and yet I know that I need a beach cruiser in order for my life to be complete.
  6. I've been married for exactly 10 months today!!!!!
6 unimportant things about Brady:
  1. For some reason, my hands and feet are about 10 degrees hotter than the average person.
  2. I've had 3 near death experiences: a) hypothermia while running in the mountains b) toothbrush through mouth into sinus cavity c) front wheel of mountain bike coming off (ask if you want all the gory details :))
  3. Although my apparent lack of height, I played varsity basketball, baseball, soccer, track and cross country in high school.
  4. In order for me to function properly each day I need to have at least one real good laugh. So if the people around me aren't funny enough I turn to you tube.
  5. Few people know this, but when Taryn and I were dating there was one dude that would always stare at her and hug her for just a little too long. One night he crossed the line a bit, so I reared back and punched him right in the nose. Didn't have a problem after that.
  6. Contrary to my seemingly rough hip hop exterior, I actually have always loved country music, camping, and fishing.
We tag Brook, Brittney H, Whitney, Meg W, Amanda, and Ryan.

Summertime... and the livin's easy

This weekend was Orem Summerfest! I was really excited to participate in as much as possible, because this summer is the first summer that I've worked full time so it hasn't really felt like its summer at all. First thing on Saturday morning we ran the Orem Firefighters 5k with Carrie and the boys. We weren't exactly racing, but we both felt good about it and didn't feel sick afterwards, so that's always a good sign. There are a couple more 5k's so we'll have to keep doing them so we can improve our time.

Brady won a Sherpa hat and a flashlight and I won a cool hiking backpack at the raffle afterwards!

After the nice run, we went to Macey's and had a free pancake breakfast with all the fix ins to ruin all the good work we had just done! (and free scones!) There was also a bounce house and a raffle for the Miley Cyrus/Stadium of Fire Extravaganza! Sadly we didn't win the tickets...or participate in the bounce house.

I have to tell every detail of our day, because it was the best day of this summer so far (besides the cruise)! Brady went and played golf with his friend Steve and I went swimming with Carrie and the kids! My first time to go swimming all summer!!! Then it was time for my two favorite things: carnival and fireworks!!!!

We brought some barbecue, walked around the carnival, then just sat and played games with Ryan and Stephanie and the Brown's while we waited for the fireworks.

Waiting...

and waiting...

taking a nap...

And finally....

I LOVED it! Here a little video. Its just the beginning of the show (30 seconds). Don't watch it if you don't want to, but its kind of cool if you love fireworks like me.

This is for you Dad!

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful fathers that I know and to all those who will one day be fathers! Here are the two most important fathers in mine and Brady's lives:

Thank you for giving so unselfishly, loving and caring for us, and working so hard! You have both taught us some very valuable lessons! You have been amazing examples in our lives and we feel sooo blessed to have had such exceptional fathers!

We love you Dad Hansen and Dad Asay!

Weekend fun

Here's just a few pics of us from last weekend. We actually did go to Krispy Kreme on National Doughnut Day and got a free donut and hats, and we ran into a couple from church doing the same thing as us :) It was so yummy, but after eating two donuts, I think I'm good for another 5 years before I crave another.

On Sat. Brady let me choose what we were going to do that day, and I wanted to go to the antique store. We saw some really cool things there, I just looove antique stores so much! Then as we were driving home there was randomly a small carnival thing at Pioneer Park, so we dropped by and saw some Irish dancers and got the huge cotton candy (that Brady is using as a beard) for a buck!

Later that night we hung out with our friends Jesse and Leandra and we beat everyone at Ticket to Ride!!!! Actually we didn't, we lost. But we had tons of fun playing Rock Band into the night! A few questions,
Why didn't I bring my camera?
Why didn't I get to see the skinny jeans?
And why didn't I just try on that Cinderella dress (because secretly I wanted to)?
Thanks for having us guys :)

Just make it through the day :)

I just wanted to draw you're attention to the video bar I made with the videos that I'm currently thinking are hilarious, weird, or cool at the time. Just FYI for those of you who get bored sometimes or if you need a pick me up. I know most of you have children and therefore are not allowed to ever be bored, but you still might need a pick me up from time to time. And for anyone else who is like me and has a full time job where sometimes you just need a little 2 minute break to sit and not be stressed out- now you have another way to take a breather and make it through the day :)

National Doughnut Day!

Today is National Doughnut Day! (who knew) I was checking my emails this morning and saw it on msn.com. Everyone go to your local doughnut store and get a free doughnut! I know Krispy Kreme is giving one free doughnut to every customer who comes inside. Doughnut Day is used to raise money for the Salvation Army...

Some facts about Doughnut Day:

  • When : Always the first Friday in June
  • National Doughnut Day honors the Salvation Army "Lassies" of WWI. It is also used as a fund raiser for needy causes of the Salvation Army.

For more information on National Doughnut Day click here.

TV on DVD: a brief guide

For those of you who don't care about TV shows, you're a better person than me. You will be rewarded by skipping to the bottom to watch a hilarious video clip. For the rest of you, please enjoy a brief guide to some of the best and worst shows that we've seen (this is by all means not all inclusive):

When Brady and I started dating we were hooked on watching TV series on dvd, and I am convinced that this is the BEST way to watch tv because a) no commercials so you don't have to waste a single extra minute of precious time and b) you don't have to wait a week to find out what happens next.

1) The first was Arrested Development, which we highly recommend to those with quick wit and appreciation of originality. Just beware that you might be setting yourself up for disappointment since there are only 3 seasons and you'll be craving more and more. But i think its definitely worth the risk.

2) The second was Prison Break.
I loved seasons 1 & 2 so I continued watching when it came back on air for season 3, but Brady wasn't too impressed with it so he started watching another little tv series called Lost *(this will be important later... stay with me). Prison Break fell VERY short of my expectations. So short that I don't even think it deserves a pic on here. I ditched it and stopped the tv series watching for a second while I checked some things off my list like graduating from college and getting married.

3)The second we got home from our honeymoon we started the next series called Heroes
which we loved (once we got through a few graphic episodes), but then it was ruined by the dang writers strike. I stand by this one though. If the same writers come back, I have high hope for a great 3rd season.

*Here's where it comes together...Brady had been watching and keeping up with Lost this whole time. I caught an episode here and there and was quite intrigued with the predicaments those little guys on the island were getting themselves into, sooo i started watching the seasons from beginning to end. Now I am obsessed with it and we are almost to the dandy of a season finale that everyone else in the world saw last week!

Questions I have:
-What the heck is Claire doing in Jacob's house?
-Why is Jack and Claire's dad alive when he's supposed to be dead? Or is he even alive? (or is anyone really alive for that matter!)
-Why do the Oceanic 6 have to lie about everything later?
-How in the world did John's dad get to the island?
-What is the island really?
-Who is Jacob?
-Who is Benjamin Linus really?
-How do you move an island?
-What about that 4-toed statue (does anyone remember this??? I can't forget about it cause it really creeped me out)?

For those of you who know nothing about Lost, you can still appreciate this:
One of the best things about Lost is that there are so many different accents to imitate after watching it for 3 hrs straight. My favorite is imitating how Claire says Charlie. I love to do it because it makes Brady laugh every time! And I stumbled across this hilarious video clip about Charlie (only its a different Charlie than the one in the show). Enjoy:

Decal Hunting..the new car game craze!

So, since our last two posts have been about camping and fishing, I thought it would be appropriate to post one of my and Taryn's favorite games as we drive around town. A game that gets better around holidays such as memorial and labor day, as well as early fall. Haven't guessed it yet? Its called try to find the most funny/uncomfortable hunting decal on the back of random trucks in traffic. If you haven't played this game yet, ill explain so that you too can join in the fun. Much like slug-bug or the license plate game, all you need to do is check out the backs of cars and especially trucks for any decals dealing with hunting, fishing, or the occasional government agency bashing. The higher points go to the stickers that, if you were to say them out loud, people would react the same if you had just belched your first name. I attached some examples just to get y'all kick-started... Happy Hunting!
