A much needed night out

This summer we are pretty busy with MCAT prep and work. Lucky for us, last Christmas Tare and I got a gift card to the Melting Pot. Brad and Carrie got one too, and we finally found a night to cash in our little culinary coupons together...even if it took 6 months, 27 days to get our act together.

We tossed the keys to the Valet and strolled on in to welcome aroma of bubbling cheeses, chocolates and marinades. I could tell you about the rest of the night, but I'll let the pictures do the talking...it was a great night.

(PS thanks Mom and Dad Asay, great gift!)

Here's looking at you, kid

This weekend we got to go to a 40's soiree in honor of Brad's birthday. It was so much fun to dress up and enjoy the 40's atmosphere, which the Willits' did an excellent job of recreating. Along with the wartime stories and fake accents that were being thrown around in good fun, we had a delicious dinner, listened to big band music, played a little poker, and had some fun with the coke and root beer bottles and the fake cigarettes and cigars :)

Thanks guys, you put on a fabulous party! Happy Birthday Brad!

The only way to see a rainbow is to look through the rain

It has been raining so much lately, but with it came this rainbow! It has been a long time since I've seen a FULL rainbow so close and so big!

And here's another pic of me at almost 26 weeks. Yesterday my stomach was really tight and it felt like it was growing. That might sound weird, but I really did feel like my stomach was stretching. Then when I came home and looked in the mirror I saw that I was right :)

::baby girl::

It's been over a month since we found out that we are having a girl, but things were so busy from the second we left the doctor's office, that I just now realized I never posted these pics of my baby girl:

This is an excerpt from my letter to her on that day:

"Last night was like Christmas Eve. I was sooo excited because I knew that today I would finally know if you are a little miss or a little mister. Three o'clock could not have come soon enough. Lucky for me I was busy at work all day, so when it was finally time to go, I was just completely giddy!

As I laid on the bed and your dad held my hand, we saw you. Perfect tiny little you, kicking your tiny little feet and showing off how healthy and strong you are. What a treat to see you all snug in your little 'room'. We couldn't believe how big you were! My how you've grown. And then we heard the words that would change our lives forever- It's a girl!

Our hearts melted right there, and were overjoyed to know that we are going to have our very own sweet baby girl."

Tissue paper pom poms

Some people have been asking how to make these pom poms so here are the instructions, as seen on Martha Stewart weddings.

How to Make the Pom-Poms
You'll need tissue paper and 24-gauge white cloth-covered floral wire.

Hanging Pom-Poms
1. Stack eight 20-by-30-inch sheets of tissue. Make 1 1/2-inchwide accordion folds, creasing with each fold.

2. Fold an 18-inch piece of floral wire in half, and slip over center of folded tissue; twist. With scissors, trim ends of tissue into rounded or pointy shapes.

3. Separate layers, pulling away from center one at a time.
4. Tie a length of monofilament to floral wire for hanging.

These are so great because obviously you can use these decorations for more than just weddings. You can also vary the sizes by cutting the tissue paper into smaller squares. I am going to hang some above our rocking chair in our baby girl's room.

Cheap and easy decorating. Don't you just love Martha!

A hard night- don't read if you get queasy easy

I haven't been very sick during this whole pregnancy or thrown up even once... until last night. I am hoping it was a one time thing and not that I am the random person who gets morning sickness at the end of pregnancy instead of the beginning. I know I didn't drink enough water (or eat enough) yesterday. Then I ate pickles and that was a big mistake. Vinegar and salt in your stomach with nothing else is apparently a recipe for disaster.

The only good part of the 3 separate episodes of throwing up (too much info- sorry) was that I was reminded that I have the kindest and most caring husband. He took such good care of me and was right there by side, rubbing my back and holding my head up. So gross I know, but he wasn't bugged by it (or at least he acted like he wasn't).

I am so excited to have him as the father of our children. At Howard and Danee's wedding, Howard's niece (Addie I think) started crying when her parents had to go take pics with the couple. Brady picked her up and she just stuck her thumb in her mouth, cuddled up, and fell asleep. I am the luckiest.

Claire

While we were in McKinney, my sister asked me to take some shots of her little girl! I'm not a professional photographer, but I do have a nice camera, and she is so adorable how could I resist :) This is mostly for Kj and I guess the rest of my family! I know I posted A LOT of pics, but I like them all!

She's even cute when she cries

The one below is a little blurry, but she has the sweetest face, so I posted it anyway.
