::change::

Just wanted to share one of the gems from conference this weekend:

"Throughout our lives, we must deal with change. Some changes are welcome, some are not. Some happen suddenly, but most take place subtly and slowly."

"This is our one and only chance at mortal life — here and now. The longer we live, the greater is our realization it is brief."

"Don't let the most important things pass while dreaming of an illusive future based on time to fulfill leisurely pursuits. Instead, find joy in the journey — now."

"What is most important almost always involves the people around us. ... Send that note to the friend you've been neglecting; give your child a hug; give your parents a hug; say 'I love you' more; always express your thanks. ... Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey and share our love with friends and family. One day, each of us will run out of tomorrows."

-President Thomas S. Monson

We loved conference (as usual) and felt like there were a lot of messages about hope, which seem very pertinent during this time. This quote, from the prophet, about change was especially comforting to me. We LOVE to think of our future together and dream of what our family will be like, where we'll live, and how life will be, we sometimes forget to take time to enjoy the life we have RIGHT NOW! And in reality, we don't know what joys and challenges lay in our future, all we know for sure is that we'll be together. RIGHT NOW we live in a little apartment that we love, we have the opportunity to gain knowledge at one of the best universities, we are working harder than ever, and we are having more fun together doing all of it than we ever had before! Enjoy life now. After all, it will never be the same twice!

Great post! Sometimes its hard to enjoy the here and now, but I agree that it is important to take advantage of what's going on now because you don't know what the future holds.

Eric says - I gotta say that one of the few things I find solace in right now is the optimism, comfort and hope offered by the brethren and especially our prophet. Conference is great for bringing me back to reality and helping me refocus on what is really important.

Thanks for that post, T!! I love President Monson's talks. I loved when he said (something to the effect of) "the most constant thing we have is change" He's always saying things like that-things that just make SO much sense!!

Love you guys!!

I have talked to so many people who said, I felt like he was talking directly to me when he said that. I often worry too much about how my kids are going to turn out when they grow up that I forget to enjoy what they are doing now. I love listening to the talks during conference, thanks for posting this as a reminder!

Taryn! That is seriously the best quote and I'm so glad you posted it. It's just what I needed to hear. I can't tell you how many times I think I wonder what it will be like when Jesse and I are retired and we can just spend all our time together... or I wonder how our kids will be when their teenagers and things like that. But we have so much good stuff going on in our lives right now and Pres. Monson nailed it.
