For someone who tried to get into Twilight and stopped reading just over halfway through the first book, I have to say that the movie surpassed my expectations. I dare say that I liked it.
Maybe it was because I had heard horrible things about the movie (and there were some weird staring at each other parts and flying), but because I expected the absolute worst, it was actually good. Maybe I'll give the books another try...

I think I expected too much from the movie and that's why I hated it. But don't worry, I'm sure I'll watch #2, it actually looks like it will be a little better from the previews.
I thought the same thing. James works at the writing center at BYU and all they do is make fun of the books. I thought it was going to be the absolute worst thing that I have ever seen. Recognizing that it is extremely cheesy I actually was entertained.
Do try the books again - I think they are fun to get in to! Enjoy the new Harry Potter movie!

i felt the same way!!! i actually liked the movie better because it didn't have half the cheesy/repetitive dialogue as the book. also the books don't pick up until about halfway through- i only read them to be in the loop, but i'm by no means crazy about them. the plot is interesting enough, so i'm sure i'll just see the movies, and never read the books again.
i LOVE twilight, I am glad you hopped on the bandwagon. :)
I didn't like the movie, but it was because I expected it to be so grand and was let down by the hokey-ness of it. But it doesn't change my desire to see New Moon! I can't wait for that. The books were so good, you really should read them! And soon before Olivia comes and you have no more time!
